It’s so easy to get caught up in self-doubt and thoughts of inadequacy, thoughts of not enough-ness and unworthiness. But whether you believe me or not, I will speak plainly: you are a work of art. Even on your worst days - you are a light in this world. You may feel like a mess sometimes, a downer, a lackluster human being, or just not where you want to be. But your every breath is a dream come true, and your multi-coloured thread brings so much beauty to this great tapestry of life.
I saw a great post on Pinterest that said: “Let the space in between where you are now and who you’re becoming inspire you, rather than fill you with inadequacy.”
Where you are and where you wish you were are just two different places in the playground of life. And one isn't better than the other, just different. It’s like we’re all playing in this big forest playground, with mountains, valleys, rivers and lakes - you can climb to the top of the mountain or spend your time sunbathing on the shores - each experience is equally valid and no one experience makes you more valuable that the others. There’s nowhere to “get” to, we’re all here together. The point of the playground is to experience, to be, to have FUN!
So take a moment to be where you are - and really SEE IT. Be here. This is a destination in and of itself. And I guarantee there are at least one or two things you’re living now that were at one point in time just wishful dreams.
I think it’s great to keep your eyes on the sky, always dreaming of your next adventure. In fact, I encourage it!! Just don’t forget the notice the blooming loveliness of who and where you are right now. From where I’m standing, it’s breathtaking.
One way to practice this mindset is through the I AM/BECOMING exercise. So go grab your journal and your pen, pour a cup of tea (or a matcha latte!) and let’s begin.
First, take a moment to appreciate three qualities you love about yourself right now.
I love that I AM:
Now list three things you love about WHERE you are in life right now (literally or figuratively)
Wonderful, now take some time to imagine three qualities you want to become and express more of as you move forward. If you need help coming up with ideas, think of someone you admire, and articulate what it is that makes them so special.
I am excited because I AM BECOMING::
And finally, list three things you are CREATING in your life (a new more empowering job, a vacation, a more relaxed pace of life) whatever you want, the sky is the beginning.
Excellent. Now don’t forget:
“A happy life is just a string of happy moments.” - Abraham Hicks
The more we acknowledge and appreciate the beauty of where we are, the more we will notice and enjoy the beauty everywhere we are. And this is the making of a beautiful life.
PS: if you need a little extra self-love in your life - don’t forget to listen to this weeks guided meditation for worthiness.
