One foot in front of the other.

I’m at home with a cold today feeling a little under the weather so I wanted to keep today’s blog post short and sweet! Since I’ve been laying in bed all day - I decided to listen to a few podcast episodes and I really enjoyed THIS episode with Mari Andrew from the UNSPOKEN podcast by Ruthie Lindsey & Miles Adcox.

To me it really demonstrated the power of creativity to heal and how what’s truly important is that we keep moving forward - even if it’s just one small step at a time (like sharing one drawing a day!).

Because the truth is, those small steps really DO start to add up!

In fact, all morning I was thinking about all the reasons not to post a blog post today (my head is cloudy, I’m tired, I don’t want to put out something I’m not proud of etc.) but this episode reminded me to just keep stepping - and to honour my promise to myself to post every week!

It reminded me of a quote that’s been inspiring my growth and creativity for the past few months by Author of Atomic Habits, James Clear:

“The only way to be consistent enough to make a masterpiece is to give yourself permission to create junk along the way.”

- James Clear

At the end of the day I want to be out in the thick of it dancing with the others who dare to do. If I believed my inner-critic and self doubt, I’d never create anything at all! And while I can’t guarantee what I create is of value to others, I know the process of creating itself is incredibly valuable. And to me, that is reason in and of itself.

“It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop.

- Confucius

May you have the courage to keep stepping one foot in front of the other.
